Title:   Board Director


Goal:   Together with the rest of the Wisconsin Veteran Foundation Board of Directors, the Board Director works closely with the President and Officers, Directors, committees, and volunteers, and performs other duties as assigned by the President.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Understand the roles, responsibilities and liabilities of serving as Director on the Board.
  • Prepare for and attend each Board meeting by reading material distributed prior to the meeting.
  • Serve on committee(s) and actively participate in the proceedings.
  • Make a personal financial contribution to the organization, meeting the guidelines determined by the Board.
  • Guide as well as participate in fundraising efforts of the Foundation.
  • Share resources and talents as well as expertise and contacts and identify individuals for potential membership on the Foundation’s Board of Directors and its committees.
  • Serve as an advocate of the Foundation to other constituent groups.
  • Be accessible, at least by telephone, to the Board of Directors, committee members, and any Foundation volunteers – when the need arises.
  • Contribute working on Board-related meetings, activities, special projects, committee assignments, donor visits, etc. on behalf of the Foundation.
  • Fulfill commitments within the agreed-upon deadlines.
  • Gets to know other Board and committee members and builds a collegial working relationship to consensus.
  • Hold in confidence any proprietary information given to or by Foundation Board of Directors.
  • Take initiative and provide leadership in moving the Foundation forward.


Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Veteran community, the Foundation’s Vision, Mission, Goals and objectives, programs, activities, etc.
  • Specific experience and or knowledge in at least one management area or a field related to the Foundation’s Vision, Mission, Goals and objectives, programs, services, etc.
  • Ability to work as an active member of a Veteran centric team.
  • Adequate time availability.
